If you run a small business, you have probably been offered a “marketing package” at some point. Some are brilliant value. Others bundle a few social posts and a monthly PDF and call it a strategy. This guide explains what small business marketing packages in the UK usually include, what they cost, and how to tell the good ones from the bad ones.
We run a digital marketing agency in Hemel Hempstead and publish all of our prices on our website, so you will see real numbers here rather than “prices on request”.

What is a small business marketing package?
A marketing package is a fixed monthly service that covers one or more marketing channels for a set price. Instead of paying by the hour, you know exactly what you will get each month and what it will cost.
Most packages for small businesses cover one of three areas:
- Social media management: creating and posting content on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, and growing your audience.
- SEO (search engine optimisation): getting your website higher on Google so customers find you when they search.
- Paid advertising: running Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads that bring in leads and sales straight away.
Some agencies sell “all-in-one” bundles that combine all three. They can work, but they often spread a small budget too thinly. For most small businesses, it is better to do one channel properly than three channels badly.
What should a good package include?
Whatever the channel, a good package should give you four things:
- Clear deliverables. You should know exactly what you get: how many posts, how many blog articles, which platforms. “Ongoing optimisation” on its own is not a deliverable.
- A named person. A dedicated account manager who knows your business, not a support inbox.
- Reporting you can understand. A monthly report that shows leads, sales or rankings, not just likes and impressions.
- No long contract. If an agency needs a 12-month contract to keep you, ask yourself why.
How much do small business marketing packages cost in the UK?
Prices vary a lot between agencies, freelancers and DIY tools. To give you something concrete, here is what our own packages cost. All prices are monthly and exclude VAT.

Paid advertising management
Paid ads have two costs: the ad spend you pay directly to Google or Meta, and the management fee you pay the agency. Our management fee starts at £450 a month for ad budgets of £500 to £1,000, and rises with your budget. You can see the full table on our Paid Ads page.
Which package is right for your business?
The right choice depends on what you need most right now:
- You need enquiries this month: start with paid ads. They are the fastest way to get in front of people who are ready to buy.
- You want a steady flow of leads for years: invest in SEO. It takes a few months to build, but the results keep paying off long after.
- You want to look established and stay front of mind: social media management keeps your brand visible and builds trust with people who are not ready to buy yet.
If you are not sure, a good agency will tell you honestly which one to start with, even if it is the cheapest option.
Red flags to watch out for
- Long contracts. Six or twelve-month lock-ins protect the agency, not you.
- Vague deliverables. If they cannot tell you what you get each month, you will not be able to measure it.
- Vanity metrics. Followers and impressions are nice, but they do not pay the bills. Ask how they measure leads and sales.
- Prices that look too good to be true. A £50 a month package usually means automated posts or overseas outsourcing with no real strategy.
